Growing Malaysian Landscapes
Since 1982

Rent A Pot has been planting Malaysia for forty-four years. We started in 1982, when founder name one line on how and why it started — a nursery, a first client, a gap in the market.

That makes us, as far as we know, one of the oldest landscaping companies in Malaysia still trading under its original name. Most of the firms we compete against for landscape architect Malaysia work were founded in the late nineties or later. We had been growing plants for fifteen years before they opened.

Plants are more than something you put in a corner.

Four decades

  1. 1982

    The nursery

    In 1982, Edwin Kumar founded Rent-A-Pot with a simple vision: to bring nature into the places where people work, gather and live. As Kuala Lumpur rapidly developed, he saw a growing demand for greenery in commercial spaces — and Rent-A-Pot was born.

  2. 1990

    Into commercial work

    Over the next 27 years, Edwin grew Rent-A-Pot into one of Kuala Lumpur’s leading landscape businesses before successfully selling the company to a UK multinational.

  3. 2000

    Design and Build

    Eight years after the sale, Edwin returned to what he had started. Driven by his passion and belief in what Rent-A-Pot could be, he bought the company back and began its next chapter.

  4. Today

    The next generation

    Now a father and sons business, Rent-A-Pot designs, builds and maintains green spaces across Malaysia, from office plant rental to full landscape projects.
